"White Hand Type" by DryBonesgo
The image above is an arm composed of typography; each part of the arm is represented through the text (arm, wrist, palm, etc.). Elements shown in the image about includes, tone, color, and scale.
Tone plays an active role in this image because as the smaller parts of the limb is represented; the text becomes smaller to accompany it, causing the white to look lighter. As the text shrink, it starts to lose positive space and is taken over by the negative space, creating depth in the image. A viewer can identify that since the white is stronger where the arm is, the arm must be positioned closer in space while the fingers, lighter are positioned further in space due to the lighter color, despite the lack of reflection and shadow.
The second element represented in the image above is color. The artist used a beautiful antique green, which was not too bright to create a pleasant contrast with the white text. If the color was any brighter, the viewer would be overpowered and will lose focus of the image of the arm due to distraction of the bright background. Not only that, by using a simple color like white, the artist makes it clear that the arm is a separate object from the background. The white is clean and has no relation to the background.
Scale is also shown in the above image. As indicated before, due to the difference in color between the arm and the hand, a viewer can differentiate which part of the arm is closer or further away from them, despite the image being two-dimensional. The text size plays an important role to the scaling of the image because since the arm is larger than the hand and fingers, the font is naturally bigger. Since each finger is smaller, the text naturally became smaller as well. With the different sizes incorporated, a viewer can easily distinguish the proportion of an actual arm.
