REPRESENTATION

This image is a representation of a simple printer. Viewers can identify this image as a printer because there is a door at the bottom where paper should be fed into and the piece of paper at the top is where paper comes out. This object is also small in size so it cannot be mistaken as a copier, which requires a large enough area for scanning. This printer is a direct reporting of visual details depicting a printer. Although it is simple, it provides enough detail to the viewer so that it can be identified as a printer. If the viewer takes a closer look, they can see an HP logo. The HP logo, as a symbol, indicates to the viewer that it is an electronic/computer company. With that in mind, the viewer can associate this image as a printer.

SYMBOL

This is an abstract image of a snowflake because only the essential and most typical of the snowflake is actually being represented. Viewers associate snowflakes to be hexagon-shaped with 6 vertices as indicated above. Therefore viewers will directly connect their knowledge of snowflakes to the image above. Despite not having a fancy pattern or thinner points, viewers use their visual perception to identify the image.

 SYMBOL
This is a symbol or logo denotes a discipline organization for the transportation provider, MUNI, or San Francisco MUNIcipal Railway Company. In the eyes of a viewer who is not familiar with this symbol, they cannot understand what the log means. This symbol will look more or less like a barcode flipped vertically. In the eyes of a view familiar with this symbol, they can easily read the “M, U, N, I” hidden in the image. This symbol is usually located on MUNI-owned buses, trains, railcars, etc. therefore viewers can demote that this stands for a transportation provider. The MUNI symbol’s red can be easily identified by viewers because red pops out just like the red on a “stop” sign. The red and the white can also denote the streets which the transportation service provider travels on.
